The Board of Directors of Highlands County GMRS Group, Inc. would like to provide an update regarding the planned upgrade of our repeater antenna system.
Several months ago, the organization purchased a CommScope DB420 antenna with the intention of replacing the current CommScope DB413 antenna installed at the repeater site by storm season. Unfortunately, we have recently been advised by a representative of the tower owner that no equipment installations, removals, or modifications may be performed on the tower without the tenant (HCGMRS Inc.) first carrying liability insurance that meets their requirements.
As a result, Highlands County GMRS Group, Inc. is unable to proceed with the antenna replacement at this time. While this is not the outcome we had hoped for, we fully understand and respect the tower owner’s policies and requirements regarding safety and liability.
The repeater system remains operational utilizing the existing DB413 antenna, and the DB420 antenna will remain safely stored until such time as the organization is able to satisfy the insurance requirements and obtain authorization to proceed with the installation.
The Board is currently evaluating available options and will continue to keep our members and supporters informed of any developments. We appreciate the patience, understanding, and continued support of our membership as we work through this unexpected requirement.
Respectfully,
Board of Directors
Highlands County GMRS Group, Inc.
